A rotary dimmer in solid brass. Push the knob to switch on and off, twist it to dim, so the light comes back at the level you left it rather than jumping to full brightness every time.

The action is the reason to buy a rotary over a slider: a weighted turn and a definite click, rather than a plastic paddle. Solid brass throughout, not plated, so the finish wears rather than flaking.

Three-way capable, meaning it works in circuits where one light is controlled from two locations, such as a hallway with a switch at each end or a stairway. It also works as a standard single-location switch.
