A wall clock cut in the shape of a log slice, with the growth rings printed across the face and a bark-edged rim rather than a machined circle. Four numerals and six dots mark the hours, so the face stays legible without covering the grain.

The movement is a silent sweep, meaning the second hand glides instead of stepping and the clock makes no tick at all. That is the difference between a clock you can hang in a bedroom and one you cannot. The hands are aluminium, the panel is only 5mm thick, and a fixing on the back means it hangs straight out of the box.

It takes one AA battery, which is not included. Use a carbon battery rather than alkaline, as the manufacturer specifies. Choose 12, 14 or 16 inches.
